The Bare Root Fruit Tree Season has many benefits for the consumer. The first thing that comes to mind is the overall availability of a vast number of varieties that are not usually obtainable in Spring, Summer or Fall.
One can also have a selection of root stocks to consider for example Dwarf, Semi-Dwarf, or Standard which are not always options given throughout the year.

The second is the price. You can usually pay much less for the bare root trees than container grown. Yes, they are usually smaller but if you are planting an orchard and have a limited budget the bare root fruit tree can save you quite a bit of money.
The third benefit is working with a young fruit tree. When they are this young you can prune it how you want it. You can lop it off 18 inches from the base and start some really low growing branches or you can select all of the horizontal branching and start an espalier.
