This hybrid of uncertain parentage is a great substitute for the California madrone. Shiny red bark that peels off through out the year offer quite a unique texture and large dark green leaves provide a nice canopy. Medium in size (35ft) its evergreen and resistant to drought. Small bell like flowers appear in spring and attract a variety of wildlife. Nice for screening or for a focal point.
