Description
Evergreen to semi-evergreen grass. California native. Clumping tightly at the base, with leaves arching to 2 feet or more. Leaves are colored a shiny light blue. As a cool season grass, new shoots quickly rise up with fall rains and by spring have reached their mature height and form seed heads on stems 3-4 feet tall. As the weather warms, the seed heads will age from purple to golden and will dry for the summer months. Once established, moderate water needs in warmer locations, to low water along the coast or in shady spots.
