Description

Evergreen tree. Native to the Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California. Upright form, growing almost twice as tall as it does wide. The scallop-edged leaves are dark green on top and grayish and fuzzy beneath. Red-brown, peeling bark similar to madrone. Large clusters of small white flowers form late spring through summer. Removing spent flowers improves summer look. Performs the best in coastal conditions. Needs excellent drainage. Low water needs once established.
