Description
Deciduous shrub. California native also found as far north as British Columbia and into Montana. The common name ninebark refers to its multi-layered peeling bark. Deep green leaves are deeply veined, similar in appearance to currants. White flowers bloom in spring and summer then turn into reddish seed capsules. Siskiyou Beauty has a slightly more compact, uniform size than the species. Tolerates most soils but will be happier with well-drained, acidic soil. Moderate water needs one established.
