Evergreen shrub. California native hybrid. An attractive shrub native to coastal forests. Large, glossy green leaves are accented with small white flowers in spring, followed by small delicious fruit – one of our tastiest native plants. One of the best plants for the back of a shady bed where its dense habit and lovely foliage make a pleasing backdrop. Deer resistant. Moderate to regular water needs once established in well-draining soil.
